Jorge Vicuna: “The unlikeliest of friends”

In this very special episode, Tony welcomes his long-time friend and hunting mentor, Jorge Vicuna to the podcast. Ten years ago, Tony was down on his luck and posted on his blog that he’d preach for free in exchange for hunting. He heard from the Rev. Jean Mornard, the rector of Grace Episcopal Church in Huron, South Dakota, that if he’d preach at her church, she’d introduce him to a hunter in her congregation. That hunter was Jorge Vicuna, and that weekend was the first of dozens of times that Tony and Jorge have hunted together. In this episode, they talk about Jorge’s journey from Chile to South Dakota, how he fell in love with pheasant hunting, the various Springer Spaniels that he’s had, his bouts with cancer, the meaning of hunting in his life, and much more.
